A classically styled puukko —a kind of general purpose and carving knife from Finland. The archetypal ‘everyday’ knife it is typically used for everything from preparing food, to gardening, to wood and even antler carving. Traditionally made with a masur birch handle and a straight backed high carbon steel blade, hardened to 63-65 HRC, and tempered to 59 HRC to reduce brittle fractures, it is supplied with a long Scandinavian style leather sheath to secure and protect both blade and handle. Overall length about 19cm, with a blade of 7.7cm. Approximately 23cm sheathed.
This blade is made from carbon steel, which keeps a better edge than stainless, but will develop rust spots if left wet or kept damp and will naturally discolour in use — dry after use and oil regularly to keep it in good condition.
