Places of Note

The Covered Market

Located right next door to OoU, and in the heart of the city centre, Oxford's Covered Market dates back to the 1770s and is renowned for its status as one of the oldest continually operating markets in the country. Home to over 50 specialist independent traders, each selling their own unique variety of goods, the market is also home to a wide selection of cafes and bars, where you can find cuisine from around the world, as well as fantastic home-made gelato or heritage wheat bread.

The Market Quarter

Our beautiful and historic corner of Oxford is full of architectural delights and home to many of Oxford's independent and family-run businesses, including clothiers, vintners, stationers, ceramicists, antique jewellers, second hand book shops and more. Home to Exeter, Lincoln and Jesus Colleges, this Quarter represents a co-mingling of Town and Gown.

The Missing Bean

We can’t imagine life without the Missing Bean — just around the corner on Turl Street, this small but bustling cafe serves coffees made with their own roasted beans, as well as pastries and sanwiches.
