A solidly thrown, straight-tapered gravy jug hand-thrown in stoneware and glazed in a home-made birch ash glaze developed through many hours of experimentation, producing a matte sage green with speckles of dark brown, characteristic of reduction firing. Perfect at the table for the serving of gravy to accompany a roast, sauces such as tartar sauce and remoulade, or a freshly made custard. A large opening allows for the whisking of ingredients directly in the pot, and is great for thicker sauces.
Hand thrown by Simon Horton and reduction fired in South Oxfordshire in a small gas kiln of his own making. With an admiration for pots quiet, understated and modest, Simon finds inspiration from medieval slipware to early Chinese and Korean pottery and feeds this back into his work. Measures approximately 11cm in diameter with a height of 10cm — though it is to be noted that the hand-made nature of the object may allow for slight variation in shape and size.
