Tom Knowles Jackson High Fired Stoneware Salt Pig, Ash

A classic salt pig with loop handle, wheel-thrown and ash glazed to the interior by Tom Knowles Jackson in the Cotswolds village of St Chloe. Place near your stove and fill it with salt for easy, one-handed access while cooking. Pinch salt directly from the wide opening or use a small spoon or measuring spoon for more precise amounts. The pig helps keep your salt dry, and is also a convenient way to add salt while serving. Using a small range of glazes derived from iron, copper and wood ash, Knowles Jackson fires his pieces in a self-built down-draught wood fired kiln. Measures 11cm in diameter, with an opening of 8cm and height of 15cm, though due to the hand-thrown nature of Tom’s work, this may vary by a centimetre or so.
