A finely thrown stoneware plate or tapas dish, ash glazed in deep green, for the handsome presentation of small dishes. Can be used in the oven to heat food before serving. Two side handles allow easy transportation from the oven to the table. Wheel-thrown in the Cotswolds village of St Chloe by Tom Knowles Jackson. A potter from a young age, Knowles Jackson returned to ceramics following careers in the army and business, and now creates his own standard range of high fired stoneware. Using a small range of glazes derived from iron, copper and wood ash, Knowles Jackson fires his pieces in a self-built down-draught wood fired kiln. Measures approximately 18cm in diameter, though due to the hand-thrown nature of Tom’s work, this may vary by a centimetre or so.
