Arthur Wright & Son Ettrick Knife, Olivewood

Arthur Wright & Son Ettrick Knife, Olivewood
£58.00
Ex Tax: £48.33

A classic lazy serpentine Ettrick pattern pruning and utility knife, thought to originate amongst the shepherds of Ettrick parish in the Scottish Borders. It has a slender, reverse-curved brass and olivewood handle, brass linings and brass pins, with a relatively small, straight edged carbon steel blade. A small gutting blade mounted on a long slim handle makes for a great little whittler or general purpose knife. It is ideal for light pruning and trimming towards the thumb, as well as numerous handy jobs around the house, like opening boxes. Hand made in the Sheffield workshops of A Wright & Sons who since 1947 have maintained and revived the knife patterns and manufacturing traditions of this noble city.

This blade is made from carbon steel, which keeps a better edge than stainless, but will develop rust spots if left wet or kept damp and will naturally discolour in use — dry after use and oil regularly to keep it in good condition.

By purchasing this item you are confirming that you are over the age of 18, and that we may contact you prior to dispatch in order to verify this. Orders including any bladed items will incur an additional courier age verification charge and legally require delivery to persons aged 18 and over.

Care Advice

Hand wash only, and never leave soaking. Dry immediately, followed with a light coating of camellia or a mineral oil. Store in a dry environment to prevent rust formation. A sharp knife is a safe knife — use a honing rod to keep a fine edge, and sharpen with a stone when necessary.
