Clarkes original tin penny whistle, created in 1843 by Robert Clarke a farm labourer in Coney Weston in Suffolk. He then walked with his son and a barrow of their belongings to Manchester, where he'd heard opportunities to manufacture abounded, making and selling whistles as he went. The Penny Whistle is a simple six-holed woodwind instrument, a type of nipple flute, in the same class as the recorder and the Native American flute. A Tin or Penny whistle player is called a whistler. In the key of C, includes fingering chart and tune sheet. About 12.5" in length.
