Similar in principle and usage to a traditional straight razor only instead if requiring regular stropping and careful sharpening these instead take standard replaceable safety razor blades. The blades are snapped along the length (whilst still wrapped), the hinged cover pulled back, and the two parts of the blade prised apart and separated - one half of the blade can then be placed against the locating pins, the holders turned back into place, and the cover closed tightening the grip ready for use.
