A pair of small garden snips with leather wrapped handles for comfort and a leather loop for keeping them closed when not in use. The name Mekiri refers to the act of trimming new buds on bonsai or other plants to allow the plant to focus energy into fewer branches for a better result. These snips are also great for deadheading or trimming rose bushes and other shrubs, or for general household uses, such as cutting ribbon or twine. Satisfyingly sharp, these fine-pointed snips allow for easy, comfortable, accurate trimming, even over long periods. From Asano Mokkousho of Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, central Japan. The blades are made of carbon steel, allowing for a fine edge to be easily reached when sharpening, and for this edge to be retained for longer — this does come, however, at the cost of rust protection. To prevent rust please wipe dry after use, store in a dry environment, and ensure these snips remain oiled when not in use. The cutting edge of these snips measure just over 5cm and in total measure, from tip to tail, 18cm.
