A wood splitting axe ideal for firewood, hand produced at the workshops of Cuchillería Pallarès, the one surviving knife and tool maker in a town once dotted with small manufacturers. Founded in 1917 by brothers Lluís and Carles Pallarès Canal, they are now a third generation family company with a workforce of 15 whose owners and management still split their time between administrative necessity and manual craft production.
This blade is made from carbon steel, which keeps a better edge than stainless, but will develop rust spots if left wet or kept damp and will naturally discolour in use — dry after use and oil regularly to keep it in good condition.
