WaSa Solingen Hat Maker’s Scissors

WaSa Solingen Hat Maker’s Scissors
£79.50
Ex Tax: £66.25

A pair of handsomely formed scissors, specifically made for cutting through felting and other thick materials used in the millinery process. Made from forged carbon steel, blued for protection, with beautifully formed bows for comfortable handling and curved shanks to assist with leverage.

Founded in 1907 by August Waldmin and Fritz Saam, Waldmin & Saam (AKA WaSa) are known particularly for the delicacy of their embroidery snips — many of WaSa's designs date back over a century or more. Each pair of WaSa scissors requires dozens of individual steps, with painstaking attention to the handcrafted precision worthy of the Solingen, “City of Blades”, standard. Handcrafted from the best steels, hot dropped forged, hardened, tempered, hand ground, plated, polished, and honed, these scissors are made by highly skilled craftsman — a trade learned from father to son for over one hundred years.

Blued steel scissors require special attention to prevent tarnishing and damage to the blades. Make sure to wipe clean after use and dry thoroughly if wet. Store dry and occasionally oil to protect from humidity.

Overall length 24.5cm, with a blade length of 9cm, and a handle width of 7.5cm.

By purchasing this item you are confirming that you are over the age of 18, and that we may contact you prior to dispatch in order to verify this. Orders including any bladed items will incur an additional courier age verification charge and legally require delivery to persons aged 18 and over.

Care Advice

Do not cut anything other than fabrics or threads to prevent premature dulling, and avoid moisture at all costs. Wipe with a soft cloth after use, and store in a dry environment. Fabric shears should be professionally sharpened when necessary — please don’t attempt to sharpen with tin foil!
