Nepalese Hand-Made Rattan Towel Hanger

A heat formed and bound rattan cane small hanger from Nepal, with a neat and simple shape — great for hanging kitchen or hand towels. Rattan is a kind of climbing palm or vine the cultivation of which is being encouraged by some conservationists as a means of preserving the forest growth on which it thrives. Obviously the commercialisation of any old growth forest is to varying degrees problematic, but rattan is being utilised as a means to prevent the far more devastating logging that would otherwise occur. Approximately 15cm by 15cm.
