Japanese Akebia Vine Basket, Round

A small round basket woven solely from akebia vine in Kaminoyama City, Japan by Nao Ochiai, who has been weaving with akebia fibre in her signature ‘Midare-ami’ pattern (shape of snow) for over two decades. Akebia is a vine which grows along the ground and makes very strong, long-lasting baskets. The family annually collect wild akebi vines in the nearby mountains. Perfect for keeping fruit fresh, but suitable for various uses. 21cm diameter, 10cm high.
