Swedish hallway rack, 3 bar, black and oak

First produced in 1937, this hallway rack was amongst the first of Gunnar Bohlin's classic designs to come out of the Skoglund Metallgjuteri forge he founded with brothers Walter and David. With brackets and hooks cast from recycled aluminium joined by strong hardwood (oak) staffs, the rack was intended for both the domestic and demanding commercial markets, quickly finding favour as home entrance storage, and notably amongst the infrastructure of the Swedish Railways. It measures 100cm x 25cm, the bars are approx. 4cm wide.
