Niwaki Mini Sickle, poplar, carbon steel

Niwaki Mini Sickle, poplar, carbon steel
£12.00
Ex Tax: £10.00

A mini sickle with a sharpened single bevelled 55mm carbon steel blade and poplar wood handle. Ideal for container and glasshouse gardening where the small size allows easy access in tight spaces and between tight planting, be that for weeding, cultivating, or gently easing seedlings free for transplantation, or for harvesting vegetables. Also good for pulling weeds from among paving and joints in walls. Being carbon steel, these can rust if left wet or stored damp, and are best lightly oiled if left for extended periods. Made in Japan. Measures 76 x 22 x 25 mm.

Care Advice

Hand wash only, and never leave soaking. Dry immediately, followed with a light coating of camellia or a mineral oil. Store in a dry environment to prevent rust formation. A sharp knife is a safe knife — use a honing rod to keep a fine edge, and sharpen with a stone when necessary. Treat the wooden handle with a mineral oil when necessary to condition the wood and prevent warping and cracking.
