A traditional Japanese folding pocket knife from Kanekoma with a black nickel handle and beautiful hand forged 3" folded Hitachi SK Steel blade. A small lever at the end of the handle is used to open the blade out (non-locking). The black nickel handle starts off shiny but soon mellows to a lovely rich patina. Quite a stiff action that loosens with time, and can be retightened with a sharp rap on the rivet with a hammer. A great pocket knife, being relatively slim and lightweight.
This blade is made from carbon steel, which keeps a better edge than stainless, but will develop rust spots if left wet or kept damp and will naturally discolour in use — dry after use and oil regularly to keep it in good condition.
