Opinel Nomad Complete Cooking Kit

Opinel Nomad Complete Cooking Kit
£75.00
Ex Tax: £62.50

Opinel's cooking kit, great for camping trips and days out, including a useful large serrated knife for cutting meat, vegetables or bread; a waiter's friend, with a sturdy folding corkscrew mounted to a beech handle, and a classic slightly clipped Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade; and a vegetable peeler — all foldable — with a solid wooden chopping board and a fabric wrapping sheet with elastic closure and straps for holding the utensils in place. Packs down to a surprisingly small and portable parcel, making it perfect when out and about. Opinel have been producing their iconic pocket knives in the Savoie region of France since 1890, and although the renowned locking ferrule was only introduced in 1955 in the years since the design has become the archetypal folding lock-knife. Possibly safer than more traditional sprung pocket knives their construction is also less complex, allowing the rare marriage of quality and affordability.

Care Advice

Hand wash and dry well with a soft cloth immediately after use. Ensure the knife is never left sitting in wet conditions. High quality stainless steel knives will often include a high-carbon element, to increase performance. These kind of stainless steels are not 100% rust proof, and will require careful handling. Any good quality kitchen knife should be kept away from the dishwasher, as the combination of salt, humidity and heat are not beneficial for the knife’s cutting edge. A sharp knife is a safe knife — use a honing rod to keep a fine edge, and sharpen with a stone when necessary. Treat the wooden handle when necessary with a food safe mineral oil to keep the wood from drying out and prevent warping or splitting, which could result in the handle coming loose.
