A large hand-thrown jug unglazed to the outside, with hand-painted brushwork, and glazed internally with an ash glaze, great for table use as a water jug, or for decanting wine. Made in Cardiff by studio potter Jack Welbourne and glazed in hand-mixed and applied glazes. After training in Cardiff and Gothenburg, Sweden, Welbourne set up his studio where he produces gas-fired wheel-thrown stoneware in red stoneware clay mined in Cornwall, using hand-mixed glazes made using potash, chalk, iron oxide and flint).
