An earthenware cooking pot with two side handles and lid, perfect for cooking soups, stews and hotpots. The shallow form of the base lends itself to the cooking of traditional Japanese dishes such as Sukiyaki (a Japanese dish of sliced meat, especially beef, fried rapidly with vegetables and sauce) and Shabushabu (a hotpot dish featuring thinly sliced beef with vegetables), as well as various western style dishes. A handsome hob/oven-to-table piece of cookware. The lid can sit stably on the table when turned upside down, thanks to the shape of the handle. The surface and rim of this item have a rough texture due to the use of coarse clay. The way colour irregularities and baked nuances occur varies from item to item due to the properties of the glaze and the firing temperature. Measures 293mm in diameter (343mm with handles) and 146mm high, with a capacity of 1.8 litres. Microwave, oven and open fire safe, but not dishwasher safe.
