Swedish Linen Placemats, Set of 2, Umbra, Växbo Lin

A pair of two striped placemats, woven in Sweden of 100% linen by Växbo Lin. After washing, this weave contracts slightly into small narrow waves, making for a distinct ribbed texture. Växbo Lin represents a recent renewal of Sweden’s once strong textile industry in a locale historically known for its linen cultivation and processing. With guidance from the local mothers and grandmothers who worked in the original scutching factories of the 1950’s, Växbo Lin opened its doors in 1990 to allow linen production to flourish in Trolldalen once more. Each mat measures 35cm by 50cm, machine wash with plenty of water at 60°, do not tumble dry.
