A traditional, Japanese made Tenugui — a textile used for wrapping bento boxes, bottles, or for use as a hand, or decorative towel. The Tenugui is also popularly used as a sports headband (highly absorbent and quick drying — ideal for sweat wicking) and to even gift wrap. The long edges of the fabric are finished with a selvage, whilst the shorter ends are left unhemmed, allowing a natural fray to occur over time. The pattern visible is made a process known as Arimatsu-Shibori. Arimatsu coming from the town in Aichi Prefecture, located in central Japan, home of dye merchants for over four centuries. Mame-Shimori being the dot pattern in which beans are tied into the fabric, creating a dimple in which to dip into indigo dye, creating an imperfect dot pattern — a technique used since the early Edo period, which has evolved with time and new technologies. Made from 100% cotton. Made in Japan. Measures 33 x 90cm. Hand wash and do not leave lying in water, as the natural dye is subject to migrate when wet.
