A small glazed ceramic cup or bowl, for tea, sake, side dishes and dressings — this little vessel is a friendly companion in the kitchen. Made by the skilled craftspeople of Marumitsu Poterie in Japan. Affectionately named ‘Crouton’, as the clay used is rough, and formed into as simple of a shape possible. The layered glaze is hand painted — a brush is used to make varying tones, with beautiful colour variations occurring during firing. Made in Aichi Prefecture in Japan by Marumitsu Poterie, established in 1950, who create table and kitchenwares embracing both traditional and modern ceramic techniques, using a diverse range of natural materials (porcelain, stoneware, earthenware and open-fire resistant earthenware). Their collection of tableware and donabes are made from natural clay excavated from the Japanese mountains, shaped and glazed by hand, with dipped or hand-brushed glazes. Measures 10cm in diameter with a height of 6.5cm. Dishwasher and microwave safe, but not oven safe.
