Jacquard Tape Measure with Hornbeam Case, Ecru

A cotton tape measure contained within a hornbeam case. The tape is of a specially manufactured 1 metre cotton jacquard ribbon, woven for Sajou in the Saint-Etienne region, the historical home of ribbon production in France, with numerals in a sweet Didone style typeface with ball terminals. The tape is unwound by gently pulling on the terminal ring, and rewound by means of the small knob at the top or end of the body. The length is a little under a meter, the barrel measuring 2.5cm in diameter by 3.6 high, or about 5.5cm including the knob.
