Kurume Kasuri Japanese Cotton Pouch, Woven Cross

A handy indigo and white  patterned pouch, made using the traditional ‘Kasuri’ process, from the word kasureru, meaning ‘blurring’. Useful as a wash bag, a purse, a pencil case, and more. Kasuri is an iteration of an ancient technique, where patterns are dyed into threads before weaving rather than printed onto the finished product. The result is a characteristic 'blurry' or bleeding look to patterns of this make. Kurume-kasuri is a form of this process specifically from Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture.  Take care around moisture and friction, as colour transfer of dyes may occur. Measures 22cm x 15cm x 1.5cm.
