Kurume Kasuri Okasuri Japanese Scarf or Shawl, Navy

A beautiful Navy neck scarf, crafted using the traditional ‘Kasuri’ process, from the root word kasureru, meaning 'to blur'. Useful as a headscarf, neckerchief, small shawl, or even as a small table cover. Kasuri is a form of Ikat dyeing, where patterns are dyed into threads before weaving rather than printed onto the finished product. This gives the patterns their characteristic blurred edges. Kurume-kasuri is a form of this process specifically from Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Okamoto recommend care be taken with the fabric with heavy friction and excessive moisture, as ink transfer may occur. Measures 68cm x 68cm.
