Mini Hori-Hori Gardening Knife, Walnut, with Natural Leather Sheath
£50.00
Ex Tax: £41.67

A small, walnut handled multifunctional stainless steel gardening knife from Tsubame-Sanjo in Niigata Prefecture, north central Japan. Hori-hori means 'dig-dig' — this diminutive version is nonetheless a strong and capable aid in the greenhouse, garden pots or when dealing with indoor plants. Useful for digging, creating drills, cutting through shoots, braches and roots, weeding and even cutting twine. The mini hori-hori was first produced for those with balcony, box, or other small gardens and measures approximately 20cm by 2.5cm by 1.5cm, with a blade of 8.8cm. Supplied with an undyed natural leather sheath, which will darken and patina with age.

By purchasing this item you are confirming that you are over the age of 18, and that we may contact you prior to dispatch in order to verify this. Orders including any bladed items will incur an additional courier age verification charge and legally require delivery to persons aged 18 and over.

Care Advice

Hand wash and dry well with a soft cloth immediately after use. Ensure the knife is never left sitting in wet conditions. High quality stainless steel knives will often include a high-carbon element, to increase performance. These kind of stainless steels are not 100% rust proof, and will require careful handling. A sharp knife is a safe knife — use a honing rod to keep a fine edge, and sharpen with a stone when necessary. Treat the wooden handle with a mineral oil when necessary to condition the wood and prevent warping and cracking. Avoid getting leather soaking wet, when it is time to clean it a lukewarm damp cloth will do. If the leather has been soaked it should not be dried with a hairdryer or furnace, but rather dried slowly in a warm location. Oil with a leather conditioner to soften the leather every so often, as failing to do so could lead to cracks or tears. Apply a small amount to a cloth and rub into the leather, covering the whole surface. Use friction to heat the leather, allowing the conditioner to soak in, and leave for 30 minutes. Using a clean cloth, wipe away any excess
