A pleasantly shaped storage jar with a knobbed lid for better accessibility, left unglazed on the exterior and glazed in the interior. The exterior is left raw, allowing the natural texture of the stoneware clay used to exhibit a beautiful toasted colour which is formed during the firing process. The inside is glazed with Shino — a glaze high in iron, typically made from feldspar that mottles from a milky white to a deep orangey red and brown. Hand thrown by Simon Horton and reduction fired in South Oxfordshire in a small gas kiln of his own making. With an admiration for pots quiet, understated and modest, Simon finds inspiration from medieval slipware to early Chinese and Korean pottery and feeds this back into his work. Measures approximately 10cm in diameter with a height of 8cm not including the knob — though it is to be noted that the hand-thrown nature of this product may allow for some variation.
