Fly Swat, Oiled Beech & Punched Leather

Fly Swat, Oiled Beech & Punched Leather
£15.00
Ex Tax: £12.50
A very traditionally styled fly swat with a good sized thick punched leather head fixed to an oiled beech shaft. Unfortunately its effectiveness is still entirely dependent on the skill of the operator. From a small family owned brushworks in North Rhine-Westfalia which since the 1930s has been hand producing unusual and high quality brush ware. 51cm in length.

Care Advice

Avoid getting leather soaking wet, when it is time to clean it a lukewarm damp cloth will do. If the leather has been soaked it should not be dried with a hairdryer or furnace, but rather dried slowly in a warm location. Oil with a leather conditioner to soften the leather every so often, as failing to do so could lead to cracks or tears. Apply a small amount to a cloth and rub into the leather, covering the whole surface. Use friction to heat the leather, allowing the conditioner to soak in, and leave for 30 minutes. Using a clean cloth, wipe away any excess When not in use, store in a dry environment. Treat with a beeswax furniture polish or mineral oil conditioner to keep the wood from drying out and prevent warping or splitting.
