Before use check carefully for any spots of rust or holes — while this item is made of stainless steel, even regular use after a while can result in rust forming. Please be mindful of this before filling with water.
Fill carefully with hot water from a kettle, using the provided funnel, and screw on the cap — note that one of our colleagues uses hot water from the tap which is more than sufficient. Wrap carefully in a towel, or one of our specially made Yutanpo covers — be sure to use mittens or oven gloves when doing so, as the surface will be very hot.
If needed the water in the Yutanpo can be heated on a hob, induction or otherwise. Never heat on the hob while the cap is screwed on, and make sure to fill it up to 60% full to make sure it doesn’t boil over. Once hot, top up to full using the provided funnel with hot water from a kettle or tap. We will stress again to never heat on the hob while the cap is screwed on.
Store correctly to improve lifespan. Don’t leave water in the Yutanpo, drain as soon as possible. Leave with the cap off in a warm place, or in direct sunlight to allow any remaining moisture to evaporate out.
With charming illustrations the provided care sheet also reminds us that continuous exposure to hot surfaces can induce burns — note that a surface at 44°C can induce a burn after 3 - 4 hours of continuous exposure, while a surface at 50°C will induce a burn after 2 - 3 minutes of continuous exposure. While a cover will dampen this effect, this is worth bearing in mind, and is relevant to all hot water bottles.
