Spanish Long-Handled Flower Hoe

Spanish Long-Handled Flower Hoe
£32.00
Ex Tax: £26.67
A fairly long handled hand forged hoe with a lightly sharpened spade (♠) shaped black lacquered steel head. Slightly curved and angled, this is used with a swinging action to cut through and break up dry, compacted, or root bound soil. Hand produced in Catalonia at the workshops of Cuchillería Pallarès the one surviving knife and tool maker in a town once dotted with small manufacturers. Now with a workforce of 15 the management still split their time between administrative necessity and manual craft production. About 50cm, total length, with a blade of approximately 13cm tip to shaft by 10cm wide.

Care Advice

Hand wash only, and never leave soaking. Dry immediately, followed with a light coating of camellia or a mineral oil. Store in a dry environment to prevent rust formation. A sharp knife is a safe knife — use a honing rod to keep a fine edge, and sharpen with a stone when necessary. Treat the wooden handle with a mineral oil when necessary to condition the wood and prevent warping and cracking.
  • Weight g 545g
  • Item Dimensions L50.5 x W14.5 x H8
