Finnish Bathing Brush, Tar Birch & Horsehair Bristle

Finnish Bathing Brush, Tar Birch & Horsehair Bristle
£31.50
Ex Tax: £26.25
A long-handled body brush with a boreal birch stock soaked in pine tar as a protective and preservative, hand stitched with soft black horsehair bristles by the crafts people of a Finnish visually impaired workers cooperative. Used more or less vigorously either during bathing or saunas to gently stimulate, clean, and exfoliate the skin. Best rinsed and left to dry between uses as if left soaking natural materials will degrade. 37cm overall length with a head of approximately 13cm.

Care Advice

Keep dry when not in use. In the case of wet-use brushes, please shake any excess moisture from the bristles, and dry hanging up or on a surface with the bristles facing down. Clean brushes only when necessary with a little shampoo and hot water, making sure to dry thoroughly. Condition the wooden surface every now and then with a beeswax furniture polish, or mineral oil, to prevent cracks or splitting. Note that clothes moths will go for animal fibre brushes in the same way that they will for animal fibre clothes. Keep brushes in a dust free environment, and treat surfaces with cedar oil to repel them.
