Finnish hand brush, tar birch

A fairly soft hand brush made with a pine tar treated birch stock cut from slow growing Fennoscandian boreal forests hand stitched with dark horse hair blend bristles by the crafts people of a Finnish visually impaired workers cooperative. As well as granting the brush its distinctive dark looks pine tar is a traditional wood preserving and protective treatment, granting the brush some extra protection from spills or damp storage, or as a disguise for soot marks if used as a fireside aid. Just over 30cm overall length.
