Simply fill the yutanpo with hand hot (not boiling) water and cover with a thick fabric or covering to gently provide heat without burning from direct skin contact. Place where feet would be shortly before bed, on a resting area under a blanket, or near an area of the body to provide relief from muscle pain. Make sure to empty out the yutanpo after each use and do not let water sit inside it for longer than 24 hours maximum. Shake out any remaining water and set in a warm dry area with the lid off until fully dry. Galvanised steel is not stainless but stain resistant and should be replaced if the outside shows blemishes in the metal as this may be an indication of a rusted interior. Additionally, any remaining water that is left inside may mould, so it is important to have the water bottle thoroughly dry between each use.
Our Japanese galvanised steel yutanpo from Matsunoya pairs well with the Melton Wool Quasi-Felted Twill Cover or our handmade Felted Wool Cover made in-house exclusively for Objects of Use in a variety of beautifully rich earth tones. To use without a cover, simply wrap it in a thick towel and place where you want the warmth to be.
