Finnish Merino Wool ‘Huurre’ Scarf, Grey

A merino scarf designed by Leonardo Hidalgo — inspired after hiking in forests that surround Helsinki. He used simple elements such as stones, the flow of the water, the light of the moon and the verticality of the trees to create a series of shaft loom designs. Woven in Lapua, Finland, at the workshops of Lapuan Kankurit, run by a fourth generation weaving family and a mill initially set up by husband and wife Juha and Liisa Hjelt, but now run by their son Esko and his wife Jaana. Whilst the raw merino wool comes from South America, all the yarn is spun and dyed in Europe, with the warping, wefting, weaving, and finishing taking place in Lapua itself. The wool comes from mulesing free production and is processed to meet ÖKO-TEX certification standards. 35cm by 180cm plus fringes.
